Darryl Scott, Founder of OMG Hoops, has been
known over the years as a great teacher of the
game. He has been developing players since the
early 90’s and has seen many move on to
compete on the collegiate level.
During
his tenure at Rutgers University – Newark,
he was known as an all purpose player, leading
the team in points, assists, and 3 point shooting
percentage. He was featured in Street &
Smith’s Basketball magazine for his shooting
efficiency. He led his conference in 3 point
shooting percentage (49.7%) and was ranked 11th
nationally in this category. Darryl was named
team captain and earned all conference honors
his junior and senior year for his leadership
both on and off the court.
By his senior year, Darryl averaged 17 points
per game, and was nearly perfect at the foul
line, shooting 89%. His knowledge and training
improved under the direction of Chris Casey,
currently head assistant coach at St. John’s
University of New York.
More
importantly, he learned what it took to be successful
both on and off the court, earning the Coach’s
MVP award both his junior and senior year for
his performance and leadership. Since his graduation
from Rutgers University, Darryl Scott has served
in a coaching capacity on both the high school
and collegiate level, with a focus on player
development. He has played an intricate role
in the development of an array of high school
and collegiate basketball players.
